Grafikę zrobiłem tak Openchrome.
Najpierw próbowałem sterownika VESA, potem openchrome z repozytorium a na koniec kompilowałem sterowniki ze strony openchrome.org. Po tym wszystkim spróbowałem ponownie VESA, bez zmian, więc wróciłem do openchrome.
Za każdym razem ten sam rezultat, system działa ale chwilami jakby się zatrzymuje i momentalnie wznawia.
Najlepiej widać to na filmach ale zauważyć się też da na samym ruchu myszki.

Musiałem podzielić, bo trochę przesadziłem z wielkością.
Niektóre rzeczy są nieaktywne ponieważ sprawdzałem co działa, a co nie i okazało się że system i tak ładował wszystko co trzeba.

(--) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint touchpad found DRM również kompilowałem ze źródła żeby uruchomić DRI, nie pomogło ale myślę, że jeżeli to by była wina sterowników graficznych to na VESA by tak nie "zacinało".

W sumie, niestety tak już będzie. Sensownie, zoptymalizować się tego nie da. Chrome9 niestety nie ma akceleracji w 3D, a w 2D działa, jak działa. Dodatkowo masz jedynie 512MB RAM, o które walczy oprogramowanie z Twoją kartą. Jedyne, sensowne wyjście, które trochę usprawni pracę (o wodotryskach 3D zapomnij), to zwiększenie RAM.
Ja sam mam ten komputer (z nieco innym procesorem oraz z 1GB RAM) i co do zasady jest "w miarę" płynnie, choć o rewelacjach - zapomnij zwłaszcza, że w nowszych systemach nie ma możliwości używania sterowników dostarczanych przez VIA, które ponoć jakąś tam akcelerację obsługują.

Dzięki za odpowiedź ale tak jak w poście napisałem nie sądzę, że to przez grafikę "zacina" się system, ponieważ wcześniej na tym laptopie było Kubuntu 7, 8 i 9 i nic takiego się nie działo.

Piotrus Pan, tego o Kubuntu nie napisałeś, ale mniejsza o to. Sprawdź jak wygląda u Ciebie zajętość RAM. W dalszym ciągu mam wrażenie, że jest to kwestia grafiki. Przy okazji - Debian (z czasów, gdy go używałem) miał "gorsze" sterowniki do Chrome9 od Kubuntu. W pewnym momencie, skonfigurowanie go na tym komputerze w ogóle nie było możliwe. Obecnie - wprawdzie w wersji livecd - też się w porównaniu z Kubuntu "zacina". Ba, co dziwne - skompilowany sterownik z openchrome w Kubuntu działał bez zarzutu, zaś w Debianie (Lenny/Sid z listopada 2008) w ogóle nie chciał ruszyć.
Jeśli to kwestia grafiki to wrzuć w google'a model komputera i linux/debian lub jeszcze chrome9. W kilku blogach/forach są różne próby znalezienia jakiegoś rozwiązania. Zwróć jednak uwagę na daty, albowiem niektóre nie będą dla Twojego systemu właściwe (z uwagi na starsze Xorgi). Spróbuj może jeszcze sterowników stąd: http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp (choć szczerze w to wątpię, by Ci się udało - trzymam jednak kciuki).
Przy okazji mój xorg.conf nie jest obecnie aż tak rozbudowany :)
