Posiadam Asusa ul80 na windowsie trzyma spokojnie 10h jak nie wiecej a na debianie amd64 przy max naladowanej baterii ok 5h. Zaobserwowalem ciekawa rzecz gdy odlaczam laptop z ladowarki przez chwile pokazuje na debianie 10h i spada po chwili do 5h i tak zostaje. Ma ktos moze pomysl dlaczego 50% roznica w uzyciu baterii? i jak to zniwelowac?

Tak dokładnie ma obie karty ale gforca w ogóle pod Debianem nie instalowałem. I używam tylko zintegrowanej bo gforce ma o wiele większy pobór mocy, przynajmniej tak mi się wydaje.

Pokaż dmesg W Windowsie za wyłączenie nieużywanej karty odpowiada program Asusa, w debianie jest pewnie ona ciągle włączona i stąd ten wysoki pobór mocy.

W dmesg widać że używana jest karta Intela. Niestety nie ma możliwości wyłączenia karty Nvidii innej niż zmiana w BIOSie, co będzie miało także wpływ na to że nie będzie ona działać pod Windowsem.

Tylko, że zarządzanie energią dla tej karty grafiki jest w sterowniku, którego nie instalowałeś. Ja akurat mam radeona w laptopie, ale bez sterowników czas działania na baterii skraca się o 60%.

Czas pracy podobny jak pod Windowsem Vistą. Najdłużej wytrzymuje na Wnidows XP, ale ten niespecjalnie się lubi ze sprzętem w laptopie i działa mocno niestabilnie. Generalnie sterownik grafiki obsługuje nie tylko generowanie obrazu, ale także wszelkie kwestie związane zarówno z taktowaniem jak i zarządzaniem energią. Skoro go nie ma, to system nie wie jak ma tym zarządzać, więc prawdopodobnie ten twój gforce lata sobie na maksymalnych obrotach zupełnie nie wykorzystywany. I jeszcze jedna uwaga - nawet otwarte sterowniki do ati - przynajmniej częściowo zarządzanie energią obsługują, bo ich załączenie też sytuację poprawia, tylko że nie tak bardzo jak na zamkniętych.

Z tego co przeczytałem, żaden Linux nie ma jeszcze wsparcia dla układu hybrydowego kart graficznych jakie posiadam i dlatego takie zużycie baterii. Przyjdzie mi poczekać aż nvidia wypuści jakieś nowsze sterowniki pod Linuksa aby osiągnąć zadowalające osiągi pracy na baterii pod Debianem, a na razie pozostaje mi dłuższa praca pod Windowsem albo dwa razy krótsza na Debianie.

Wsparcie dla układu hybrydowego podobno zaczyna się z jądrem 2.6.34. Jak wygląda niestety nie wiem, na pewno już wcześniej były jakieś programy umożliwiające zmianę aktywnej karty przy Radeonie.
W tej chwili na Asusach ULx0VT daje się zarówno korzystać z akceleracji jak i wyłączyć geforce. Próbować to jakoś połączyć będę w najbliższym czasie.

5) odpalone polecenie sudo modprobe nvidia_g210m_acpi Rezultat: straciliśmy akcelerację, po jeszcze drobnym zoptymalizowaniu systemu (jedynie wskazówki powertop) zużycie energii spadło z 16-19W do 7-10W, w rezultacie planowany czas pracy na baterii wynosi ~8-10h
Skutki uboczne: straciliśmy również możliwość regulacji podświetlania ekranu, do obejścia jak chwilkę się pogrzebie.

Niestety w trybie "Enchanted" próba odpalenia systemu z ustawioną Nvidią kończy się ciemnym ekranem, chyba podczas startu X'ów.

Pytanie do bardziej znających się na temacie: Rozumiem, że takich rzeczy, jak tryb pracy SATA nie daje się przełączyć podczas ładowania jądra? Pewnie byłoby to trudne, zmieniać sposób obsługi dysku, gdy ten już działa...

Ja tam wybitnym specem od tego nie jestem, ale u mnie i tak jajko ignoruje ustawienia w BIOS-ie i odpala sata w AHCI. Windowsowi widać różnicę to robi, bo Windows Vista z AHCI działać nie zamierza (przynajmniej na MSI GX-610).

Wiesz, tutaj działa jakaś magia - zmieniasz ustawienia SATA w biosie i okazuje się, że sterowniki nvidii zaczynają działać...

Ja bym tą magię potraktował jakąś nową wersją BIOS-u bo błędem mi to pachnie.

,,Cukierek'' wie. Może i błąd, ale prawdę mówiąc, strach aktualizować bios, ponieważ asus stwierdził, że użytkowników Linuksa ma w gdzieś jeżeli chodzi o przełączanie grafiki, nvidia też się nie garnie do roboty, a ten błąd pozwala na wykorzystanie sprzętu.
